Speaker: Tina Schoen, MBA BSN RN NEA-BC CPHQ

Tina Schoen, MBA BSN RN NEA-BC CPHQ is a Quality Outcome Specialist for Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. She has responsibility for corporate quality outcomes for the Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute and recently for the service lines of the Carolinas Hospitalist Group and Academic Internal Medicine. She has been in healthcare for 20 years, with over ten years of management experience in a variety of Nursing Leadership positions with Atrium Health. Ms. Schoen has clinical experience in Medical-Surgical, Trauma Intensive Care and Emergency Care. She earned her Bachelors of Nursing at James Madison University and holds a Master’s in Business Administration with concentration in Healthcare Services Administration from Strayer University. Ms. Schoen is active in her professional organizations by serving on the Board of Directors for the NC Association for Healthcare Quality and the NC Nurses Association.

Description:

In this Learning Lab, Alignment of Physician Leaders and Quality Professionals Across a Healthcare System, participants will understand how the alignment of Hospitalist physician practices and Quality Professionals across a Healthcare System can lead to improvement in quality outcomes via a common structure and process. Developing consistency for structured communication and expectations, plus standardization of information using LEAN tools and PDSA methodology will lead to repeatable process across multiple practice locations. By demonstrating improvement in Length of stay, mortality and readmissions the quality professional can use the leverage to implement the structured dyad approach to other service lines across an organization.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify how alignment of physician practices and Quality Professionals can impact quality outcomes via a common structure and process.
  • Develop consistency for structured communication and expectations, plus standardization of information for repeatable processes across multiple practice locations
  • Demonstrate ways to show improvement in Length of stay, mortality, and readmissions
